TerpTheatre continues to enjoy it’s 25+ years of partnership with Wild Swan Theater as rehearsals get underway for the upcoming performances of Treasure Island.
Wild Swan Theater continues to be a progressive beacon within the arts community as it continues to provide sign language interpreters for every single public performance of each show they perform.
This season has already seen shadow performers Erin Schwartz and Jamie Fidler team up with the pioneers over at Wild Swan Theater plus a flock of talented actors to see The Firebird take flight. Now, the focus is on finding Flint’s buried treasure and battling pirates in Jeff Duncan’s adaptation of Robert Lewis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. TerpTheatre pros Shelly Tocco and Jamie Fidler will take on pirates, pesky parrots, pompousness, puzzles, protruding planks and, well…. Ben Gunn.
Shelly & Jamie are excited to work with old sea-dogs as well as new deck swabs. They are both excited to work, yet again, with Wild Swan Company Manager Michelle Trame Lanzi (Anne Bonny), Co-Artistic Director Sandy Ryder (BlackBeard), Co-Artistic Director Hilary Cohen (Director), as well as musician David Mosher and seasoned Wild Swan veteran Jeremy Salvatori (Jim Hawkins). Among the sailors are Eric Niece (Blind Pew/Ben Gunn), Steven O’Brien (Billy Bones/Captain Smollett), David Melcher (Livesey), Barton Bund (Trelawney), and Tim Holmes (Long John Silver).
Recommended for kids ages 7-14 (younger children are welcome!) and adults who are pirate-at-heart, Treasure Island is shaping up to be a voyage aboard “The Hispanola” that you’ll never forget.
All performances will be at Washtenaw Community College’s Towsley Auditorium. Shows are selling out so get your tickets before they’re swallowed up by the sea! Tickets are $10/child, $15/adult, and lap passes are $3 for children age 2 and under. Click here to buy tickets.
